The PEDALS toolkit has tip sheets, checklists and materials that enhance the PEDALS curriculum and outcomes for both teachers and children.
PEDALS coaches and teachers have used these documents, and we’ve gotten their feedback to make improvements, but they have not been tested for validity or reliability.
These documents may be reproduced and shared, but cannot be used for commercial or for-profit activity, or to promote a commercial product. Appropriate credit must be given to the PEDALS project, the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York and the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation.
Booklist: Books recommended by the Second Step program, PEDALS teachers and PEDALS staff, to be used in conjunction with PEDALS curriculum.
Tip Sheet: This tip sheet provides modification strategies identified through the PEDALS project that may help to meet the developmental needs of young preschool children. Most of these tips are appropriate for use with older children as well.
Social Emotional Skills Scale: This tool can help measure the teacher’s ability to interact with children in a way that supports social emotional development, and measure the children’s use of the curriculum strategies.
Classroom Item Checklist: This document includes material that supports the teaching of social emotional skills. It should be used as a guide by teachers and administrators in selecting materials that enhance social emotional learning in the classroom.
Sustainability Worksheet: This worksheet will assist your team in planning for sustainability of your PEDALS project.
Sustainability Toolkit: This tool kit provides early childhood programs with tools to implement and sustain a social emotional curriculum, including example job descriptions, guidance on incorporating curriculum into job appraisals, how to measure the effectiveness of the curriculum and much more.
