2010 Stakeholder Assessment Report

In 2010, we commissioned The Center for Effective Philanthropy to conduct a survey to gather the perspectives and experiences of individual stakeholders who we seek to influence as part of our strategy.

The Center’s Stakeholder Assessment Report provides comprehensive analysis and comparative data that can help us understand how our performance in several key areas (public awareness, external impact, goals and strategy, communication resources and stakeholder interactions) is perceived by our audiences such as non-profit organizations, other funders, government officials, community leaders, subject matter experts and members of the media.

Of 790 stakeholders surveyed, 399 responded for a 51 percent response rate.

Overall, stakeholders rated the Foundation positively, and frequently described the Foundation as “strategic” and “engaged.” However, the analysis of the 2010 report showed that overall, stakeholders whose organizations were located outside of western and central New York rated significantly higher than other stakeholders in the favorability of their impression of the Foundation, its understanding of key issues, its effect on public policy, the extent to which the Foundation has improved how health care is practiced and its commitment to keep people at the center of its work.

We developed an action plan to address issues raised in the survey, and the Center for Effective Philanthropy conducted the STAR for the Health Foundation again in 2015.
