In the third quarter of 2024, the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York invested in a range of partnerships and programs to advance racial and socioeconomic health equity in western and central New York, including the following:
Older Adult Trauma Champions Program ($285,500)
This funding will support a cohort of twelve organizations that serve older adults in western New York to participate in the Older Adult (OA) Trauma Champions program. The OA Trauma Champions program was developed and will be run by the University at Buffalo’s Institute for Trauma and Trauma Informed Care and the Jewish Federations of North America to expand the community’s understanding of the needs of older adults related to trauma. The program will offer organizations training, resources, and support on providing trauma-informed care for older adults.
Fellows Action Network 2025-2026 ($270,000)
The Fellows Action Network (FAN) was created in 2007 to provide graduates of the Health Foundation’s Health Leadership Fellows program a way to remain connected and work together. Through FAN, Fellows can build upon the work undertaken in the Health Leadership Fellows program, collaborate on new projects, participate in a continuous learning community, and become active in other Health Foundation initiatives. Over the next two years, this funding will continue to support FAN’s key functions, including communication, resourcing, and supporting networking and collaboration.
