The Health Foundation is proud to help commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Elder abuse, neglect and exploitation have a devastating impact on older adults throughout our community.
The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened the risks of these situations, as social distancing efforts, while vital for the health of the community, have made it harder for older adults to rely on trusted caregivers as usual. It is up to all of us to collaborate on new ways of reducing or addressing the risks of elder abuse.
That’s why this year’s theme—being together while staying apart—is so important. At the Health Foundation, we are committed to partnering with the community on these efforts. This is part of our organizational goal of ensuring that individual well-being is promoted and addressed for older adults in our community.
Today, and every day, let’s work together to ensure that older adults receive the care, attention, services and respect they deserve.
