Stories have the power to inform and inspire, excite and empower. But for most nonprofits, capturing the essence of the organization and its impact is easier said than done. That’s why we’re thrilled to bring StoryGrowing back to central New York for a second year and introduce StoryGrowing to western New York for the first time!
Based on the teachings of internationally recognized speaker and consultant Andy Goodman of The Goodman Center, StoryGrowing is a nine-month training program designed to help your organization harness the power of storytelling and nurture your growth through effective branding and communications training. Working directly with a variety of local professionals, your team will learn how to balance emotional and rational messaging, target the right audiences, make efficient use of digital and social tools, and much more.
What You’ll Learn
StoryGrowing will feature a variety of learning techniques—including lectures, workshops, private coaching, guided development and presentation opportunities— designed to help you and your organization:
- Demonstrate fluency in the techniques of storytelling
- Assess your organization’s current internal and external communications
- Identify the elements of a strong brand proposition and evaluate your organization’s current brand messaging
- Determine compelling key messages for your organization’s communications
- Use stories in advocacy, development, recruiting and other communications
- Identify and apply types of stories relevant to your organization’s target audiences
- Apply best practices in writing, photography and videography
- Disseminate stories through community outreach
- Effectively tell stories both in person and through social media
The program will conclude with a community-wide celebration where your team will present your organization’s story.
Up to eight organizations in each region will be selected to participate in StoryGrowing. Organizations will be considered for StoryGrowing by application only.
