
Michael D. Shaffer, C.P.A
Michael D. Shaffer is one of four members that joined the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2013.
Shaffer has spent more than half of his career as a senior administrator for health care systems and hospital networks across central New York. He was most recently the vice president of fiscal affairs for St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center prior to his retirement in 2013.
Shaffer has previously held senior administrative positions with Mohawk Valley Network, Inc., where he was chief financial officer for the parent organization of a health care system and chief financial officer with St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital Center.
Shaffer has previously been a member of the Healthcare Association of New York State, where he served on the finance committee; the American Hospital Association; the Healthcare Financial Management Association; the Iroquois Healthcare Association of New York State; the board of directors of the Central New York Chapter of HFMA; the American Institute of CPAs; and the New York State Society of CPAs.
Shaffer, a resident of Syracuse, NY holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Syracuse University.
