Meredith Carswell-Sheline

Communications and Public Relations Officer

Meredith joined the Health Foundation in 2014 as communications associate, and in 2018 was named communications and public relations officer.  She has over 15 years of communications and public relations experience in both the public and not-for-profit sectors.

As the communications and public relations officer, Meredith leads all communications and public and media relations efforts to advance the Health Foundation’s mission, vision, strategy and goals.   She is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans for the Foundation, its advocacy efforts and new programs and initiatives.  In an effort to share the Foundation’s ideas, research and initiatives, Meredith builds relationships with  grantees, community coalitions, media, partners, policy makers and others. She also provides oversight of all communications content for the Foundation.

Before locating to Buffalo, Meredith served as director of marketing for a regional construction firm headquartered out of Birmingham, Alabama where she oversaw all marketing and public relations initiatives for the southeast-based contractor. Additionally, she was the executive director for a community development corporation; in this role she designed and implemented the overall organizational structure of the CDC by setting, and guiding, the mission and the vision for the organization and the communities the non-profit served.

Meredith is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a bachelor of arts in journalism with a concentration in public relations.

Although a true Southerner at heart, Meredith loves living in the Buffalo community. She resides in Amherst with her husband and their two young daughters
