Colleen E. O’Leary M.D. was elected to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees in 2018. She is professor emerita of anesthesiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
O’Leary served in a number of leadership positions at Upstate. She was interim chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, medical director of Perioperative Services at University Hospital, interim medical director for the Hospital and president of the medical staff.
O’Leary is a past president of the Onondaga County Medical Society. She has been a member of the boards of New York State’s Board of Professional Medical Conduct, Academic Health Professionals Insurance Association, Lifetime Healthcare Companies, Oswego College Foundation and Upstate Medical University Foundation.
O’Leary’s awards and recognition include Hospice’s Anita Award for promoting excellence in end of life care, Onondaga County Medical Society’s Distinguished Service Award and Community General Hospital’s Award for Medical Excellence and Community Service. She and her husband, Michael R O’Leary MD, jointly received SUNY Upstate’s President’s Award for Philanthropic Service in 2002.
O’Leary is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association and several State and County Professional Societies. She received her bachelor’s degree from State University College at Oswego and her Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Upstate.
O’Leary resides in Manlius with her husband.
