The Health Foundation for Western and Central New York announced that Kate McLaughlin has been promoted to communications director. McLaughlin, who has been with the Health Foundation since 2011, previously served as communications manager.
As part of the Health Foundation’s management team, McLaughlin leads all communications, public and media relations efforts and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and implementing internal and external communications strategies to effectively and consistently communicate the Foundation’s mission, work and impact.
“Kate most recently led the Foundation through the development of its first strategic communications plan, and will now oversee its implementation. Her contributions over the past three years demonstrate a proven track record, and we are very fortunate to have Kate guiding the Foundation’s communications efforts going forward,” said Ann F. Monroe, president of the Health Foundation.
Before joining the foundation, McLaughlin served as public information officer at Erie Community College and as editor of the Cheektowaga Bee newspaper.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications and a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from St. Bonaventure University. McLaughlin is a resident of Kenmore, NY.
