The Health Foundation for Western and Central New York has hired Kerry Jones Waring as communications and public relations officer, a newly created position for the Foundation.
In this role, she will provide leadership, management and oversight of the Foundation’s public relations and communications strategy and initiatives. Jones Waring will work closely with the Health Foundation Board of Trustees, president Nora OBrien-Suric and other staff in advocating for continuous improvement in health and health care for residents of Western and Central New York. These initiatives will support the Foundation’s efforts in building relationships and partnerships with policymakers, funders and intermediaries to advance the Foundation’s goal that all New Yorkers will have access to quality, affordable care by 2027.
“We are pleased to welcome Kerry to the Health Foundation team at this critical time for our mission,” said OBrien-Suric. “The Foundation established this position because we recognize the importance of effective public outreach as a key part of our efforts to improve the health of residents in Western and Central New York. Kerry’s experience in using strategic communications to elevate the public profile of health care and nonprofit organizations make her an excellent fit for this role.”
Formerly, Jones Waring provided marketing and public relations services through her firm KJW Communications. Other previous roles include serving as marketing communications manager at the University at Buffalo’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, and senior communications coordinator at the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
