AARP Leading on Livability Pre-Summit Intensive
The Health Foundation for Western and Central New York will once again partner with AARP on the annual Leading on Livability Summit, which will be held on September 24-25, 2019, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
The Network of Age-Friendly Communities in New York and forward-thinking communities are increasing their focus on livability, walkability, community health, economic development and how these issues impact people of all ages. As New York State government, local governments, community partners, innovators from academia, planners and the aging advocacy network chart their course in livability, AARP New York is pleased to convene leaders in this work for the third annual Leading on Livability Summit.
Pre-Summit Intensive Workshop
The Health Foundation will host a pre-summit intensive workshop for community-based agencies and leaders who focus on livability issues in their work on September 23rd, also at the Hyatt Regency. This pre-summit workshop will feature Dr. JaNay Queen Nazaire, Managing Director for Performance and Results for Living Cities.
It is critical that leaders understand the work they must do to make decisions, change policies and create opportunities that are grounded in racial equity, and offer the security New Yorkers of color need to fully participate in thriving, livable and inclusive communities. During the pre-conference, Dr. Queen Nazaire will walk participants through the personal work they need to do, the ways they can leverage the power and authority they have in their roles, and how to begin the work to shift policies, practices and processes in institutions so systems change and support equitable and livable communities for all New Yorkers.
