Central New York StoryGrowing Information Session July 19

“This has really changed the way we talk about our organization and helped us show the value of the work we’re doing.”

This is just one of the comments from the non-profit organizations that participated in the pilot of the StoryGrowing program that began in central New York in April 2016.

Because the StoryGrowing program had such an impact on participating organizations, we’re moving forward with StoryGrowing 2.0, launching in September 2017.

Supported through a partnership between the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York, the Central New York Community Foundation and the Gifford Foundation, StoryGrowing helps non-profits strengthen their storytelling culture and skills through intensive workshops, group training and one-on-one coaching.

Up to eight Central New York organizations will be selected to participate in StoryGrowing 2.0, which runs from September 2017 to May 2018. There is no cost to the organizations.

Teams from participating organizations will receive:

  • 25 hours of required workshops and intensives covering branding and strategy, building a storytelling culture, practical training in using video, photography, social media as well as public presentation skills;
  • A StoryGrowing “Sherpa” for the entire process, who acts as a guide for each organization;
  • Up to 20 hours of coaching from specialists available through a clinic model. Organizations select coaches that meet their specific needs and can vary the coaches they use as their work evolves; and
  • A community-wide celebration of storytelling!

Organizations will be considered for StoryGrowing 2.0 by application only.
