New York State Profile of Children in Deep Poverty

Too many of New York’s youngest children are living in families experiencing severe economic hardship, facing adversities that reduce their chances of succeeding in school and beyond.

While New York has some of the strongest policies that can help support families that are struggling financially, we need even stronger policies and investments, including two-generation strategies, to improve the odds for young children living in deep poverty in our communities.

This profile offers information about young children age birth to nine living in deep poverty in New York State as well as recommendations for policies that could support their healthy development and success.
