What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking is an approach to problem solving that puts the needs of people experiencing a problem at the core. It provides a toolkit for deeply understanding people’s needs and experiences, generating ideas to meet those needs, and then implementing innovative and practical solutions.
The Design Thinking Workshop
The Design Thinking Workshop is a fun and engaging learning experience that will help you develop an understanding of Design Thinking and how to apply it. With fellow participants, you will work through a Design Thinking process from start to finish using a sample problem.
The workshop will give you the necessary skills and tools to reframe a project or problem in a person-centered way—one that gets you to new and useful solutions. The hands-on, practical nature of the workshop means you’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned the very same day.
Who should attend?
We’re looking for teams of 2 to 4 people from either a single organization or a coalition of organizations that either currently serve older adults and caregivers or would like to extend their services to reach these groups
This team should include the executive director or senior-level decision maker, a staff member that oversees implementation of services and a team member who provides services.
What’s next after Design Day?
This workshop is the first step in the Aging by Design funding opportunity process. After Design Day, we will be looking for community partners to help us put design thinking into action during a learning phase that will shape our future programs and funding opportunities.
How much does this cost?
There is no cost to attend this workshop, but advance registration is required. We suggest that one person from each team register all team members attending.
