Founded in 2002, the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York awarded its first grants in April 2004. Since that time, more than 400 grants totaling more than $30 million have been awarded to fund programs in 16 counties in western and central New York.

Opportunity Overview
The Health Foundation is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a program officer. This person will identify and steward potential Health Foundation partners, assess incoming grant requests, develop programs that address health disparities, and present promising proposals for board consideration. This individual will also provide monitoring and oversight of funded grants across the 16 counties the Health Foundation serves and assist in the management of Foundation programs, initiatives and projects.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working with diverse populations in urban and rural settings and exploring new ideas and concepts. They should have an innovative spirit, a commitment to and passion for the Foundation’s mission, an affinity for collaboration and teamwork, and a broad knowledge of the health care sector. This position requires a self-starter and strategic thinker.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, the Health Professions or in a related Human Services field and at least seven years experience in health-care, health-related consulting and/or community-based health and human services. Advance degree a plus.

The program officer will be based in the Foundation’s Buffalo office with a starting salary of $82,500. The Foundation offers a generous benefits package. The anticipated start date is January 2024.
Due to the nature of the position, travel is required, and applicants must have a valid driver’s license and reliable automobile.
